Dr. Anibal Pepper Figueroa
Dr. Anibal Pepper Figueroa was born in Arequipa, Peru and is a physician today. The XVI Tumi award has the honor of recognizing him as the Professional od the Year in Illinois. He studied inthe High School run by the Jesuits in Arequipa, received his Physician and Surgeon Diploma from the School of Medicine, University of San Agustin, and had a Residence in general surgery at Regional Hospital "Honorio Delgado" in Arequipa. He came to the Uted States in 1967 and took a surgical residency at Hines Hospital, affiliated to this University, he obtained the National Board of Surgery. He served the army for four years as the Head of the Medical Batalion #23 in the American Division and in the hospital MASH 91, in Chu Lai, Vietnam. In 1974, he joined the Peruvian American Medica Society (PAMS), then in 1982 he took a Sabatical leave of absence to spend with his family in Arequipa and Yucay to work in a "Posta Medica". I1983 he established and organized the Burn Unit of the Regional Hospital of Arequipa and the Burn Unit in Iquitos. Allong the years, he has joined many different medical and professional associations.
